Seven years after his 1972 Billy Burnette debut, Burnette released yet another self-titled record (and would release a third self-titled album the following year) but, though the title is the same, the two albums are vastly different. Whereas the previous record had a soft, folksy sound, this one gives the listener a better taste of what would come later on. Songs like "Niki Hoeky," "Believe What You Say" (which Burnette would later rerecord for his 2000 release Are You With Me Baby), and "Mississippi Line" are infused with the same Rockabilly, Country, and R&B grooves that would become such a huge part of Billy's signature sound.
