Comments from the Webmistress:

I wish I could say that I love this album, but really I have only mixed feelings on it. I can't say that I'm all that thrilled at the idea of a cover album, especially when Burnette is a such a gifted lyricist. I realize that this is intended to be more of a tribute to the late legend, but I still can't help but wish for something truly new.

That's not to say, of course, that this album has any sort of "been there" feel to it. The bluegrass twist does give it a fresh sound, but - though he is suited to this type of music - Shawn Camp's voice has too much twang for my tastes. The fact that he takes the lead on some of my favorite Elvis songs (most especially "Are You Lonesome Tonight") doesn't help matters any.

Still, Billy Burnette sounds great on his tracks and makes the album well worth the purchase price.
